Squirrel Control in Dunstable

Squirrel Control in Dunstable

Dunstable sits under the Downs, with substantial woodland and chalk scrub on the escarpment above the town and a good deal of commercial and warehouse building below it.

That gives it two quite different jobs. Domestic work along the wooded edge, and commercial roof voids — which are a much larger version of the same problem and one that tends to be discovered later.

Commercial roofs

Bigger Voids, Found Later

A large flat or shallow-pitch commercial roof has a void that nobody goes into, no householder lying in bed underneath it, and often a suspended ceiling between the void and anyone who might notice. So a squirrel problem in a commercial building typically runs considerably longer before it is found.

What usually finds it is not noise. It is a fault: a data or power cable chewed through, a water leak from a chewed pipe, or staff reporting a smell.

Access points on commercial roofs are different too — plant penetrations, cable and duct entries, roof lights, parapet junctions and the gaps around extract units. The proofing is the same principle at a larger scale, and it is usually worth doing as a survey of the whole roof rather than a patch at the point of entry.
