Wasp Nest Treatment in Buckingham

Buckingham has an old town centre, a university with a lot of rented property around it, and genuine parkland on the doorstep. All three produce a different sort of call.

The rented property is the awkward one, because in August the person being stung and the person who can authorise the work are frequently not the same person.

Rented property

Who Books It, and Who Pays

A wasp nest on a rented property is the landlord's to deal with under the general obligation to keep the structure and exterior in repair, and in practice almost every landlord and agent treats it as a routine maintenance job at a routine price.

What slows it down is not usually reluctance, it is the chain: tenant tells agent, agent asks landlord, landlord asks for a quote. In August, with a nest over the front door, that chain takes longer than the tenant can comfortably wait.

What helps is a fixed price. There is no survey needed and nothing to quote — it is £90, and an agent can approve that in one message rather than three. We are happy to invoice the agent or landlord directly with the tenant arranging access.

In the parkland and the older villages, the European hornet turns up more than it does in town. It is a much bigger insect and it looks alarming, but it is far less bad-tempered than a common wasp. There is more on that in European and Asian hornets.

Short answers

Buckingham Questions

I rent - who deals with it?

The landlord or agent, as structural maintenance. The fixed £90 helps, because there is nothing to quote and it can be approved in one message.

Can you invoice the letting agent?

Yes, with the tenant arranging access.

It is enormous - is it a hornet?

Possibly. European hornets are commoner around the parkland and the villages than in town, and they are considerably less aggressive than common wasps.
