Carpet Moth Control in Watford
In a block, the carpet outside your door belongs to somebody else.
Carpet Moth Control in Watford
Watford has a great deal of flatted housing, and the recurring difficulty here is not the insect. It is that the affected floor is often communal, and the person suffering cannot authorise anything to be done to it.
Carpeted corridors, carpeted stairwells and carpeted lift lobbies are standard in blocks of a certain age, and they are walked on in a narrow strip down the middle and nowhere else.

The Bit With the Problem Is Not Yours
A communal corridor is an unusually good habitat. The edges are never walked on, the cleaning contract is a vacuum down the centre once a week, the furniture - where there is any - is bolted down, and the heating runs all year. Damage at the skirting of a corridor can run for years before anyone looks at it.
The awkward part is procedural. You can treat your own flat perfectly and have it recolonised from the corridor, and you have no standing to have the corridor treated. What moves it is the managing agent, and what moves the managing agent is a written finding rather than a complaint.
So on a flat in a block we will, if you want, set out in writing what was found inside the flat, what the likely source is, and what would need to happen in the common parts. An agent can act on a maintenance item in a way they cannot act on a phone call from one leaseholder, and it costs you nothing extra.
The larvae live in the edges of that corridor carpet, which is why the corridor keeps restocking your flat.
One more thing specific to flats: the void under a floor and the service risers between them are shared, and an old bird or wasp nest in a roof space above the top floor is a feather and debris supply serving the whole stack. Worth asking about if a top-floor flat keeps having the same problem.
Short answers
Watford Questions
My flat is treated but they keep coming back. Why?
Very often the source is the communal carpet outside the door, which is not yours to have treated. A written finding is what gets the managing agent to act.
Will you provide something in writing for the agent?
Yes - what was found, where, what the likely source is and what would need to happen in the common parts. There is no extra charge for it.
Do you cover the surrounding area?
Yes, including Bushey, Rickmansworth, Abbots Langley and the surrounding area.
