Carpet Moth Control in Bletchley
Older floors have a gap at the edge of every room, and that gap is where the problem lives.
Carpet Moth Control in Bletchley
Bletchley has a lot of pre-war and immediately post-war housing with suspended timber floors, and carpet laid over boards behaves quite differently from carpet laid over a modern screed.
There is a gripper rod, then a gap, then a board with a draught coming up through it. Dust, hair and fibre collect in that gap for decades, and it is dark, undisturbed and full of exactly the material the larvae want.

The Gap at the Edge of the Room
On a timber floor the pile at the perimeter does not sit flat on anything solid. Underneath it there is a channel that runs the whole way round, and what ends up in it is fifty years of lint, pet hair, wool fibre and the crumbs of previous carpets.
That does two things. It gives the larvae a food supply that has nothing to do with your current carpet, which is why a problem survives a new floor covering. And it puts them somewhere a vacuum cleaner has genuinely never been.
So on this stock the treatment is much more about the perimeter than the middle of the room. It is worth lifting a corner of carpet before quoting, because what is under the edge decides how big the job is - and occasionally it turns up the original wool underlay from the 1950s, quietly feeding the whole house.
The same logic applies to the hearth, the bay and anywhere a built-in cupboard meets the floor, all of which are common here and all of which are edges.
Short answers
Bletchley Questions
We had a new carpet and it came back. Why?
Very often because what was feeding them was underneath - old underlay, or the debris in the gap at the perimeter of a timber floor. A new carpet laid over that is a new food supply, not a solution.
Do you need to lift the carpet?
A corner or an edge, usually, so we can see what is underneath. Nothing is lifted without asking you first.
Do you cover Fenny Stratford and Water Eaton?
Yes, and the surrounding area, with same-day or next-day appointments.
