Mice Control Bletchley
Mice control across Bletchley, Fenny Stratford, Water Eaton and Old Bletchley — older terraces, lofts and rented property.
Mice Control in Bletchley
Bletchley is mostly pre-war and post-war terraced and semi-detached housing, and older housing is where mouse proofing gets interesting. A modern house has a small number of well-defined holes in it. A ninety-year-old one has had six trades through it, each of whom drilled what they needed and filled it to their own standard.
The other thing to establish is the ground floor. Where it is suspended timber, which is common in the older streets, the void underneath connects the whole footprint of the house and vents to the outside through airbricks.

Under the floor
Suspended Floors and Airbricks
Where a house has a timber ground floor over a ventilated void, that void is a corridor running under every downstairs room, and it is connected to the garden by airbricks. A cracked or broken airbrick is a doorway into that corridor, and from there mice come up wherever a pipe passes through the boards — typically under the sink, behind the bath, or at the back of a kitchen unit.
That is why a mouse can appear in a first-floor bedroom in a house whose only defect is an airbrick at the back. We check the airbricks and the floor penetrations as a matter of course here.

Old work
Six Trades and Six Standards of Filling
In a house of this age the holes worth finding are the historical ones: where an old gas pipe was removed, where a back boiler flue was capped, where a waste pipe was rerouted, where cable was pulled through for a rewire.
Most of them were filled with something — foam, filler, a bit of bagged mortar — and mice gnaw through all of those. Proofing that lasts means steel wool and sealant, mesh, or a metal plate, which is what goes in.
What we ask
Before We Come to Bletchley
Tell us the age of the property, whether the ground floor is timber or concrete, and where you are finding droppings. That decides most of what we need to know before we arrive.
After the visit you get a plain account of what was found, what was done and which gaps are closed. Businesses and landlords get it in writing for their own records, which is what an inspector or an auditor asks to see.
Not sure whether it is mice or rats? Droppings settle it, and there is a page on the difference: rat control in Bletchley.
Before you book
Mice Control in Bletchley — Questions
We keep filling the hole and they gnaw through. What works?
Filler and expanding foam on their own do not survive a mouse. What holds is steel wool packed into the gap and sealed over, wire mesh, or a metal plate where something is being gnawed at repeatedly. That is what we fit.
It is a rented house. Should I tell the landlord?
Yes, in writing, and keep a copy. Entry points are usually a repair matter. We will give you a written account of what was found and where, which is what that conversation usually turns on.
