Ant Control Amersham
Ant treatment across Amersham Old Town, Amersham-on-the-Hill and the villages around them.
Ant Control in Amersham
Amersham splits between the period property of the Old Town, much of it listed or in a conservation area, and the inter-war and post-war housing built around the station on the Hill.
Most of our ant work here is domestic and a good deal of it is about what may and may not be done to a building that is protected.
Ring 01908 465226 and tell us what you have seen in Amersham.
Listed property
Treating Without Touching the Fabric
Ant treatment does not alter a building. It is surface and void work at low level, applied on the routes and at the nest, and the nest is almost always outside the walls in the first place.
Where sealing would mean pointing, filling or cutting into historic fabric we will say so rather than do it, and the weight goes onto the colony instead. Tell us the building is listed when you book so the visit is planned that way.
Gardens
Mature Planting and the Aphid Connection
Worth knowing if you have a well-planted garden. Ants farm aphids: they protect them from predators and feed on the honeydew the aphids produce, and a heavily infested rose, lime, cherry or honeysuckle beside the house is a permanent food supply a few feet from the wall.
If there is a sticky deposit on a patio table, a car or a path under a tree, that is honeydew, and there will be ants going up and down the trunk to get it. Dealing with the aphids on the plants nearest the house takes away a reason for the traffic to be there at all.

What we ask
Before the Ant Visit in Amersham
Tell us whether the building is listed, where the trail runs, and whether there is sticky deposit under any plant near the house. That decides most of what we need to know before we arrive.
You will be told where the nest is, what was treated and what to expect over the following days. Where the colony sits on ground that is not yours — a neighbour’s, a shared path, a landlord’s — we put that in writing rather than leave you to argue it.
Before you book
Ant Control in Amersham — Questions
Will treatment damage a listed building?
No. It is low-level surface work on routes and at the nest, and the nest is almost always outside the walls. Where sealing would mean cutting into historic fabric we leave it alone and deal with the colony instead.
There is sticky stuff on the patio furniture. Related?
Very likely. That is honeydew from aphids in the tree or shrub above, and ants farm aphids for it. A heavily infested plant near the house is a permanent food source a few feet from your wall.
