Cockroach Control in Dunstable

Cockroach Control in Dunstable

Dunstable sits on the A5 and the M1 corridor and has the warehousing and distribution to match, along with roadside catering serving it. That gives it a problem the rest of the patch mostly does not have: cockroaches arriving in goods.

This is genuinely how a lot of infestations start. Cardboard, pallets, packaging and returned stock are ideal transport, and a distribution operation moves a very large amount of all four.

Deliveries

They Arrive in the Cardboard

Cockroaches are poor travellers on their own and excellent travellers in a box. Corrugated cardboard in particular is close to ideal for them — the flutes are exactly the tight contact space they want, and it is warm, dark and undisturbed in a stack.

For any business taking regular deliveries, the practical controls are dull and effective: break boxes down and get them out rather than storing them; do not keep cardboard in the kitchen or beside the units; check incoming pallets, particularly returns and anything that has been in storage; and keep the goods-in area separate from the food area.

For a household, the same applies at a smaller scale to a second-hand appliance or a delivery of boxes that sat somewhere before it reached you.
