In a two-storey house, bedrooms are upstairs and there is a natural separation between sleeping and living space. In a bungalow there is not: a bedroom shares a wall with a lounge, and a sofa somebody naps on is a few feet from a bed.

That tends to mean an infestation involves living-room furniture earlier than it would elsewhere, and it is why we inspect the sofa and armchairs here as a matter of course rather than as an afterthought.

The loft matters differently. It is not bed bug habitat, but a ceiling void running over the whole footprint is a route, and downlighters and loft-hatch surrounds are worth a look where the spread does not otherwise make sense.
